INVITATION TO JOIN SCHOOL NETWORK WITH THE UNIVERSITY CENTRAL LONDON (UCL) BEACON SCHOOL PROGRAMME IN HOLOCAUST EDUCATION
Join us on Thursday 8 February 2018 at The George Hotel Lichfield for a one day FREE networking and CPD event.
As a recently designated UCL Beacon School for Holocaust education, we would like to invite teachers of History, RS and English, or indeed anyone involved with teaching about the Holocaust, to this one day FREE event. The aim of the event is to form a hub of secondary schools in this region who are interested in improving the quality of teaching and learning about the Holocaust.
The main focus of the Hub will be to facilitate thinking, and practice on Holocaust education and share outstanding teaching materials and high quality professional training. It would also be a good networking opportunity for local colleagues to meet, discuss strategies, share experiences and good practice beyond Holocaust Education and to support each other in terms of improving the progress of all our students.
The training is led by the UCL’s Centre for Holocaust Education, whose work is underpinned by national research. They are renowned experts and very experienced in delivering innovative and high quality CPD courses to teachers in secondary schools throughout England. All resources, lunch and refreshments are included as the day is funded by the Pears Foundation and the DfE.
Whether your specialism is History, RS, English or in another curriculum area, we hope you will be able to join us on this exceptional course. You are also welcome to bring other colleagues with you.
Following the CPD day, materials will be provided and we would be happy to support you in implementing the strategies or schemes presented to you into your own teaching. In addition, the UCL staff will inform you about the many ways you can extend your interest in Holocaust Education.
To book your place, please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org or to discuss the opportunity further please contact Head of History at The Polesworth School, Nik Cauldwell email@example.com . You can of course register directly on the UCL website: https://www.holocausteducation.org.uk/courses-events/ where you will find more detailed information about the day’s activities.
