The Outstanding Teaching Assistant Programme (OTAP)
Overview
Support staff are a vital part of our teaching and learning community. As part of a team of teaching assistants you can benefit from participation in The Outstanding Teaching Assistant Programme.
Objectives
The programme:
- develops understanding what an outstanding teaching assistant looks like
- enables colleagues to share ideas and strategies to help move their schools forward
- develops confidence in feeling able to voice their views and ideas, and feel empowered to take the lead in their development as “learning assistants”, with a focus on facilitating the students’ learning experience
Facilitators
All sessions are delivered by OLEVI trained facilitators
Audience
New and experienced Teaching Assistants and intervention mentors who are, or who have the potential to be, outstanding in their roles. It is intended to develop the potential for Teaching Assistants to have a wider impact on improving the quality of teaching and learning across the school.
Course Commitment
Each programme comprises five half day sessions over five consecutive weeks. Colleagues must attend all sessions to be accredited.
Cost
Free of charge to CAT schools
£300 for two delegates from one school. Prices for additional delegates are available upon request.
Venues
The Polesworth School and Higham Lane School.
